この前、Netflixで公開されているドラマStranger things(最近ハマってる)を見ていて何度か出てきたこれ

Shouldn't have

映画やドラマでよく聞くこのワード。文法を復習し、使い方を例示していく。

ドラマの中で出てきたセリフ
１） I shouldn't have come here today. Sorry.
訳：ここに来るべきではなかったわね。ごめん。

２）
I shouldn't have taken that(photo).
訳：その写真をとるべきではなかったね。

基本的に後悔の念を表すこの表現。

S should not have Vpp ~

Description

You should have done something.
= you didn't do it, but it would have been the right thing to do.

You shouldn't have done something.
= you did it, but it was the wrong thing to do.

Usage

You should have come to the party yesterday.
訳：君も昨日のパーティに来るべきだったのに。
I should have told you so.
訳：そう言うべきだったね。
I should have gone to bed earlier last night. I'm so sleepy now.
訳：昨日は、早く寝るべきだったよ。めっちゃ眠い。
